The honest comparison

Scheduling apps exist. A system of record is different.

This is the honest version, built by a safety ministry leader who has stood the post for over 14 years. Scheduling is the easy part, and plenty of tools do it well. The difference that matters shows up later, the day someone asks you to prove it: prove every volunteer on post was vetted, prove your policies were read and acknowledged, prove the required training was done. That proof is either in your system or it is not. The table below shows, capability by capability, where each option actually stands.

Capability readings come from each vendor's own published materials as of August 22, 2026: a survey of eleven products, six church safety apps and five scheduling apps, with the citation record shipping in this site's repository. "All" and "Some" count only capabilities a vendor's own materials evidence; several surveyed products advertise adjacent or configurable approximations, and those are deliberately not counted. "None evidenced" means no surveyed vendor claimed it on that date, not that no product can do it, and no statement is made about products outside the survey. Some surveyed schedulers do not market themselves for safety teams, and we compare them only where they overlap.

Good tools schedule volunteers, and some track a background check or a training date. Across the eleven products we surveyed in August 2026, none ships the full evidence layer as one turnkey system: enforce compliance at the moment you schedule, capture server-recorded acknowledgment, and export the audit PDF that stands up to an insurer, an auditor, or an attorney. That is the job N4 Safety was built for.
